Dear Parents, Students, Guardians and Community Members:
BIG NEWS! Anderson School wins Rural Utilities Service Grant ($496,780.00)
Anderson School District # 41 is the lead applicant in a Rural Utilities Service – Distance Learning and Telemedicine grant to provide distance learning services to ten rural schools throughout the state of Montana. Anderson was among 174 eligible applications that competed in Fiscal Year 2011. Anderson Schools has been privileged with an active and involved group of parents and community members. Although we face the same challenges as other small, rural districts, we are able to provide our students a solid, well-rounded education by means of a dedicated adult population that includes administrators, teachers, and parents. Through this distance learning program, we aim to connect to other small districts throughout the state to provide their students the same learning opportunities as ours.
Through distance learning technology, partnering districts will gain the ability to connect to one another to share content, academic resources and give access to courses currently unavailable due to lack of staff and financial support. Anderson Schools will provide access to foreign language courses, gifted and talented programs, fine arts classes and other electives that have been in increasingly short supply since NCLB legislation passed. Distance learning technology will allow us to provide high quality educational content that will help create an exciting learning environment for our students. Hub site Museum of the Rockies will deliver a wide variety of interactive coursework that is aligned to Montana state educational standards in social studies, geography, geology, and Montana history.
